When asked about the vision and vibes for this project, Leah Gotti says: “As the vision for this calendar unfolded, I sought to encapsulate an array of submissive postures, each a window into diverse states of mind and body. A journey like no other, a tapestry woven with threads of sensuality and intimacy.”
DAY 1
As Leah Gotti pulled up to the first day of shooting, you could see and feel her energy. No coffee needed, Leah always wakes up ready for a full day. The looks have been discussed, and all hands are on deck as the sets are prepared. Ashley, professionally known as VICE Intimate Portraiture, snaps into her creative self as her mind is reeling with playful ideas to fully illustrate Gotti’s vision.
If you have ever been on the set of a photo shoot, or any creative project, you know it is genuinely a sight to see. Big projects like this are truly a team effort, and as you look around the room, you witness creators’ eyes light up as their brains crank with ideas, and all the concepts and visions that have been analyzed are brought to life. There is VICE Erotica, ready to shoot these masterfully planned looks, Leah Gotti mentally and physically preparing for the challenging looks to come, and while all of this beauty is being visualized and created, there is Photojournalist Koga behind the scenes to capture the essence of it. While Ashley snaps the looks, Koga is there to journal the whole day through photographs.
A photo shoot with Leah Gotti might be a little different than the average photo shoot. She is not directed, she is the director. But of all the hands that are there to make visions a reality, a makeup artist and hair stylist are not one of them. Not only does Leah not need a beauty team, she looks and feels more beautiful without one.
As Leah looks into the mirror, simply applying some lipstick, and preparing for the day to come, Koga takes moments like these, and turns behind the scenes into pieces of art.
Twenty minutes have been spent getting ready and set up, and look #1 was ready to shoot. Leah Gotti dives in, her energy is unmatched. She doesn’t just pose, she moves, she feels, she sensualizes. And VICE Erotica captures. When Ashley photographs, she doesn’t direct with poses, she talks vibes. She feels the moment, she matches the mood of Gotti, and she snaps away.
Ashley has been a professional photographer for about 14 years, specializing in shooting Adult stars. “I love the female body. I love empowering the women I work with” At the time she started this type of photography, it was very cookie cutter, but Ashley wanted more. She wasn’t satisfied with the same poses and the same content, she wanted to push the envelope and up her game.
“Every shoot is different for me. When I recycle a set, it drives me crazy.” Ashley says.
Four rooms were reserved on day 1, moving every hour to a few hours. Every set was so different, yet the aura and tones resembled the same strong theme Leah envisioned. As the sun set on day 1, Leah stood soaking wet from the last shot of the day, exhausted and hungry, but on a unique high that comes after such a successful day. But the work was far from over. The day was ending, and Gotti and her whole team had to travel to the next location before day 2, about 100 miles away.

Leah had an ambitious vision for the looks of day 2, a vision that could only be accomplished with the help of Mac, professionally known as “The Very Bad Boy Scout”. The kindest gentleman, a man who knew how to tie knots, accidentally stumbled into a dream profession of tying women up. How does one just stumble into this sort of profession? Mac tells his fascinating story of traveling on a big boat at 19 when a crucial piece broke, leaving them stranded on the coast of Japan. As their crew was waiting for the pieces to be shipped in, Mac realized there wasn’t enough food or money to sustain this type of delay, so he searched for job postings in the area. He quickly fell into a job for a commercial photographer as “hired muscle”. One day on the job, the director was late, and Mac was left waiting there with a handful of models, and some rope. Knowing how to tie some knots, he started doing so on one of the models to pass the time. And as he was tying, the director comes in and begins yelling at Mac for touching the girls. But once that director was able to calm down, and think about the art that he had witnessed, he hired him.
Many years later, Mac and Ashley found each other on Instagram, each admiring the other's work, and realized they would be a perfect match.
As Mac went over the safety precautions, Gotti listened, yet knew she was made for this. She is always limber and stretched, physically and mentally. And just like that, we moved from set to set, from look to look, creating an all consuming sensual symphony of photographs, taking everyone’s breath away in the process. It was an invigorating, powerful day. Every creator there took so much pride in their work, truly enveloping what it takes to capture such artistic beauty as a photographer, to create such enchanting beauty as a model, and to assist in this vision by tying Leah Gotti up in the most exhilarating ways.
